Growing Readers & Early Literacy
For the month of October, we will combine our toddler story time with our Family Place Parent Child Workshop! Each week we will introduce an early childhood topic with a story and fingerplay. A community expert in each topic will be on hand for one-on-one time with parents while the children will have extra toys and playtime. Topics include: Early Literacy, Nutrition, Developmental Milestones, Speech and Language Development, and Movement. Check with the Crosby Library for the schedule and list of community experts.
Sunshine Baby Time is an early literacy program for babies up to 18 months and their caregivers. Please join us as we share early literacy tips, stories, songs, and fun!
In order to ensure the safety of our youngest patrons, this is a ticketed program. Free tickets will be available in the library on the morning of the program. First come, first served.

🎉 Wee Wednesdays Storytime is a weekly celebration of stories, songs, and silliness designed just for preschoolers ages 2–6! Every Wednesday, join us for a joyful journey through picture books, playful rhymes, and interactive fun that helps little ones build early literacy skills while making new friends. 📚✨
Join the Katy Library for our Family Place Workshop Wednesdays from 10-11:15 am from September 10th- October 8th! This program is designed to be a fun resource for parents & guardians to connect and play with their children, other families, and the greater Katy community. Professionals from across the Katy area will join us each week to provide insight and resources to help inform and support your growing family.
**Please note that this workshop will be briefly replacing our normal Wednesday story times and will be ticketed. Please show up early to secure your spots!
Enjoy some time to bond with your baby and meet new friends. This program is for babies and will feature lap-sit stories, songs, activities and time to socialize with others. Story time is an excellent way to bond with your child, boost their vocabulary, and hopefully raise a lifelong reader. Studies have shown that regularly reading to your child can increase their attention span, boost their emotional intelligence, and flex their imagination. A free ticket is required and can be picked up at the information desk 30 minutes prior to the program.
Family Playdate Workshop
The Family Workshop is a six-week program intended for children, aged 5 years and under, and their caregivers. Caregivers and children gather in a room with passive toys that encourage creative play and learning. The sessions will also include a local child expert who will provide information and answer questions and concerns of caregivers on topics related to early child development.
This story time includes stories, songs, and activities. Children are invited to wear their pajamas and bring a favorite blanket or stuffed animal! Surprise! Each child may choose one free book at the end of the program!
Tickets are required for this program. They are free and available 30 minutes before the program begins in the Children’s Department. .
