Book Buddies is a free program that brings children and volunteers (adults or teens) together to share the joy of reading. It pairs trained volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grades (Little Buddies). For 10 weeks, the Buddies meet once a week in the afternoon for 45 minutes of one-on-one shared reading.

Join author, sewing educator, and Baby Lock Brand Ambassador Bianca Springer for a fun and informative sewing workshop! "Learn the Rules to Break the Rules" will teach students how to understand and use commercial sewing patterns.

If you have your own sewing machine you are encouraged to bring it with you. If you need to borrow a machine you will need to reserve one by emailing Renee at renee.harbaugh@hcpl.net.

Need help preparing your taxes? AARP will prepare your taxes for FREE! 

Available only on Mondays and Fridays from 10AM to 2PM.

You will need to bring: 

  1. the completed AARP tax packet (available at the library), 
  2. a driver's license/state ID, 
  3. social security card, and 
  4. any relevant tax information/forms. 

This program is first come, first serve for walk-ins. 

NEW 2025: This year AARP will also offer appointments. Appointments can be made over the phone or in-person.
