Paws For Therapy “Read to a Dog”

Join us from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the Children’s section of the library. “Paws for Therapy” is a group of volunteers in the Houston area who enjoy sharing their trained therapy dogs with those in need of love and comfort. Reading can be hard, so kids, ages 5-11 can get comfortable and practice their reading skills with a trained therapy dog.

Seniors 55+ are invited to join the Maud Marks Library’s Timeless Travelers program for a trip to visit the Houston Rodeo. We will have access to the carnival, shopping, livestock show and horse show. The bus will be departing on Wednesday, March 5, from 9 AM- 2 PM.

Family Playdate Workshop

The Family Workshop is a five-week program intended for children, aged 1-3 years old, and their caregivers. Caregivers and children gather in a room with passive toys that encourage creative play and learning. The sessions will also include a local child expert who will provide information and answer questions and concerns of caregivers on topics related to early child development.

National Read Across America Day falls on the same day as the birthday of children’s book author Dr. Seuss so, naturally, it is a tradition to read his storybooks on this day. Parents, teachers, students, and members of society all come together to celebrate the joys of reading and to encourage it to become a habit for children.
