It's the first day of Summer Reading and we're so excited we're throwing a party! Come to the library and register the whole family for SRP (you, too, adults!) and enjoy some fun crafts while you do it. We just can't wait to get started and we hope you join us.
Please note that parents must register their children for the SRP program, therefore parents are required at this event.
To celebrate Jewish American Heritage month, discover the magical world of shadow puppetry with Daniel Barash of Firelight Shadow Theater. After first introducing audience members to the art of shadow puppetry, Daniel will perform shadow puppetry versions of best-loved folktales from the Jewish tradition. The audience will be encouraged to participate throughout the program, and volunteers will be invited up to the shadow screen to help perform the shows. See you in the land of shadows! Tickets will be passed out 15 min before the event on a first come first serve basis.
Does your child use a computer, tablet or cellphone?
On Monday, June 23, 2025 at 3:00 PM, South Houston Branch Library will be having a talk and presentation for kids on the do's and dont's of using the internet. We will teach them how to be safe and recognizing certain dangers.
Let's build a safer online community!

Do you have a child that loves playing Roblox?

Join us at the Parker Williams Library Innovation Lab for our Laser Cutter Orientation!
This orientation session will introduce participants to the laser-cutting services we offer at the library. Those who complete the orientation will then be able to request supervised time to use a laser cutter at any HCPL branch that has one. Attending this orientation is mandatory before patrons can request time to use a laser cutter in the future.
This event is open to all ages. Children ages 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult guardian.
