Switch 2 Play is a weekly Thursday event at 4:00 PM in the library, where people of all ages can relax and connect through popular games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart World, Just Dance, Street Fighter VI, and more! All necessary equipment—including the console, controllers, and seating—is provided for a fun and easygoing gaming experience, though feel free to bring your own controllers if you prefer!
Book Buddies is a free program that brings children and and teen volunteers together to share the joy of reading. It pairs trained volunteers (Big Buddies) with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grades (Little Buddies). Calling all homeschooled kids! September's Library Learning will explore the fascinating worlds of psychology, geology, and chemistry—all centered around food! Through hands-on activities, experiments, and interactive lessons, children will discover how science and the natural world connect to what we eat every day. New Big Buddies are invited to attend a training session on September 4th from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the North Channel Branch of the public library. This training prepares volunteers to participate in the Book Buddies program, which pairs teen volunteers with children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade for 10 weeks of shared reading. Returning Big Buddies are not required to attend. Sign up at the front desk!
