Up until her death in 1954, Friday Kahlo taught art to many children in Mexico City. Thanks to a crack in the space time continuum this internationally renowned artist will travel to the present day and continue her unique instruction for Houston kids!
Using crayons, colored pencils and construction paper every child will get to express themselves and learn about visual art and Frida Kahlo. Art supplies included. Ages 5 and up.

Children will be dazzled as we explore physical and chemical changes throughout this show. Follow our friend, Eggbert, on his "egg-citing" journey. Witness wonders of air pressure and an indoor firework show! Volunteers from the audience can taste a special Mad Science “burp” potion. Children will be amazed by sizzling, shivering scissors and special bubbly showers. Ages 6 and up.

Soar into the world of birds and discover how amazing our feathered friends truly are. This program features live birds, bird song and dance, fun books to look for at your library, and much more!
This program is geared for elementary grades and younger audiences. Ages 5 and up.

What animal is covered in mucous and loves to eat bugs? Frogs! Observe a live specimen while you learn about the anatomy, life cycle, and habitats of frogs and toads. Ages 4 and up.

It's the first day of Summer Reading and we're so excited we're throwing a party! Come to the library and register the whole family for SRP (you, too, adults!) and enjoy some fun crafts while you do it. We just can't wait to get started and we hope you join us.

Please note that parents must register their children for the SRP program, therefore parents are required at this event.

To celebrate Jewish American Heritage month, discover the magical world of shadow puppetry with Daniel Barash of Firelight Shadow Theater. After first introducing audience members to the art of shadow puppetry, Daniel will perform shadow puppetry versions of best-loved folktales from the Jewish tradition. The audience will be encouraged to participate throughout the program, and volunteers will be invited up to the shadow screen to help perform the shows. See you in the land of shadows! Tickets will be passed out 15 min before the event on a first come first serve basis.

Join us for a monthly event designed to help reluctant or shy readers gain confidence, with the help of some very good dogs. Paws for Therapy will provide trained therapy dogs, ready to help your child practice their reading! Each participant will get 10 minutes to read a book of their choice to a friendly, non-judgmental dog. It’s guaranteed to be a doggone good time.

 Are your children's vaccines up to date? Harris Health System Troubleshooters will be here administering recommended vaccines by the CDC such as MMR, DTaP, IPV and others. First come, first serve, bring child(ren) shot record, children ages 0-18. No appointment required. Limited capacity.

Every child has an artist inside them! If your child is 6 years and older then bring them to our monthly Art Club. Here they will enjoy a variety of activities whether it be painting, drawing, coloring and much more! All materials provided.

Commemorate the birth of the United States by making a patriotic craft. All materials will be provided. Ages 5 & up.
